Dr. Yared Zewde is a consultant neurologist and Assistant Professor of Neurology at the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia, where he also previously served as Chair of the Department of Neurology. He is the founder and lead of the first dedicated Headache Clinic at Tikur Anbessa Teaching Hospital and Lancet General Hospital—pioneering access to specialized headache and pain care in Ethiopia.

Dr. Yared’s academic and clinical work centers on headache medicine in low-resource settings. His research focuses on the epidemiology, burden, and management of headache disorders in underrepresented populations across sub-Saharan Africa. He actively advocates for evidence-based, context-sensitive approaches to headache care, with a strong interest in the integration of digital tools to expand access and improve outcomes.

As a Global Atlantic Fellow for Equity in Brain Health at the University of California, San Francisco, Dr. Yared combines his passion for brain health equity with a commitment to capacity-building in headache care and research across the African continent.
