Dr. Marco Antônio Arruda is a distinguished brazilian pediatric neurologist with a Master’s degree and PhD, who has devoted over three decades to advancing the understanding of headache, migraine, and psychiatric comorbidities in children and adolescents. As leader of a research group comprised of both Brazilian and international collaborators, Dr. Arruda has authored 12 book chapters and approximately 70 peer-reviewed publications primarily based on population-based studies conducted by his group examining the epidemiology and the impact of migraine on school performance and mental health. Notably, his pioneering works in 2010 and 2017 were the first to study and describe the comorbidity between migraine and ADHD in pediatric populations. Dr. Arruda is widely recognized for his expertise and is frequently invited to lecture at national and international conferences, including those in Argentina, Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, the United States, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and Austria. He edited the first Portuguese-language book dedicated to childhood headache and has served as a member of the Child and Adolescent Standing Committee of the International Headache Society since 1994. Dr. Arruda’s enduring contributions have substantially shaped current knowledge and clinical practice in pediatric headache medicine.
